Check a likely route

Before travel

Five checks

  1. Confirm the official route

Use the Finder as a starting point, then verify the result on the responsible government website for your passport and circumstances.

  2. Use the passport you will travel with

Electronic authorisations and visas can be linked to a specific passport. Recheck the route if a passport is replaced before travel.

  3. Check names, numbers and expiry dates

Compare any confirmation with the passport before departure. Correcting mistakes can require a new request or application.

  4. Allow time for an official decision

Published processing times are guidance, not guarantees. Avoid non-refundable commitments until the required permission is confirmed.

  5. Carry supporting travel evidence

A travel authorisation does not guarantee entry. Border authorities may still ask about the purpose, duration, funds, accommodation or onward journey.

This is not a document upload service. Do not send ETAApply a passport, photograph, payment detail or immigration record.
